SquatchDIY exists because most "homesteading gear" content is one of two things: a list of affiliate links with no opinions, or a brand deal in a trench coat. We'd rather tell you what actually held up, what broke, and what you can skip.

Every guide starts with the work itself — canning a real harvest, keeping a coop warm through a hard freeze, running a generator through an outage — and the gear lists are the stuff that survived. If a product only looks good on paper, it doesn't make the list.

We're a small, independent team. When we link to Amazon, the commission keeps the site free and the gear reviews honest — see the disclosure below. Nothing we publish is sponsored, and no brand pays for a good word.
